熱帯準二年振動が中高緯度の大気場・化学場の年々変動に及ぼす影響

研究概要

温室効果気体の増加による温暖化やフロン等のオゾン層破壊物質の国際的な規制によるオゾン層回復が赤道準二年振動(QBO)の冬季北半球の中高緯度への影響にどのように関わっているかを気象研究所の化学-気候モデル(MRI-CCM)の1960年から2100年までの過去再現・将来予測シミュレーションデータを使って調べた。そのために、温室効果気体の濃度が一定(海面水温は毎年同じ季節変化を繰り返す)のランとオゾン層破壊物質が一定のランの2つのシミュレーションデータも併せて解析した。温暖化により対流圏は暖かくなるが、成層圏は冷たくなり、冬季は約6度冷え、それに呼応して西風の極夜ジェットは約4m/sec強くなる。現在の気候ではMRI-CCMのモデルデータと観測に基づく再解析データの両方でQBOが西風位相のとき極渦が強くなり、QBO東風位相で弱くなるというHolton-Tan関係(HT関係)が初冬に見出されているが、温暖化した気候ではHT関係が晩冬にずれるという結果になった。温室効果気体濃度を1960年代の値に固定し強制力が一定のランでもHT関係は見出され、原因が自然変動による可能性も示唆された。これらは、中高緯度の基本場の気候変化にHT関係の応答が変化したと考えられるが、フォーシングの変化への応答の変化も含まれている。なぜなら、QBO自身も温暖化によって変化しており、北半球冬季に西風位相から東風位相を差し引いたQBOは鉛直3層構造で振幅に変化があり、70-50hPaの下層で減少、30-10hPaの中層で増加、10hPaより上層で減少していた。このQBO自身の変化のトレンド解析も行い、3つのフォーシング(モデルで表現される波、パラメタライズされた重力波、残差子午面循環のそれぞれによる運動量輸送)のトレンドの定量的評価も行った。
