研究概要

東南アジアの窒素固定菌および菌根菌などの共生微生物を用いた持続的バイオマス生産とその効率的変換に関する総合調査研究を、日本及び東南アジアの研究者が共同して行い、持続的なバイオエネルギー供給と食糧生産の現状と有効利用の実態を明らかにする。そのことにより、今後のエネルギー・食糧供給の方策を提案し、国際学術交流の実をあげることを目的とする。共同調査研究を通して、東南アジアに生息する貴重な窒素固定細菌および菌根菌を採集し、それら微生物株を遺伝系統分類学的に整理し、土壌環境・地力回復とバイオマス生産との関係を明らかにする。さらに、窒素固定能の優れた菌株および菌根菌を選別し、有効な有機コンポストを開発する。こうした共生微生物利用による化学肥料の消費削減、持続的バイオマス生産への寄与の度合い、バイオエネルギー変換量などを評価する。
