中・高齢者の生活空間における環境・生体情報に加え、人間関係などの社会的情報、日常生活パターンなどの知識を効果的に取り込み、中・高齢者にとってやさしい情報通信システムを構成するためのシステム構築基盤である「ウェルエイジングミドルウェア」を開発した。特にウェルエイジングミドルウェアにおいて核となる、中・高齢者の社会生活に関する知識を計算機が効果的に処理可能とする知識処理技術として「中・高齢者向け領域オントロジ技術」に焦点をあて、研究開発を行った。
