研究概要

マイコバクテリアの細胞壁に存在する糖脂質は免疫修飾に重要であると示唆されている。本研究ではまずスメグマ菌由来糖脂質の生合成に関して直鎖伸長にかかわる糖転移酵素と側鎖を合成する糖転移酵素の発現レベルの制御が重要であることを明らかにした。更にスメグマ菌と結核菌において、これらの糖脂質の構造的異常が細胞壁の透過性に関する異常を引き起こしていることを明らかにした。また、関連するリン脂質として、これまで細菌において未知であったホスファチジルイノシトール3リン酸の存在をスメグマ菌において初めて明らかにした。
