A draft manuscript of a Book was submitted to Kyoto University Press and Ateneo de Manila University Press, CSEAS Philippine Studies Series for consideration for publication. The applicant has presented at four conferences below.
November 20, 2020 CSEAS-KSEAS Joint Conference (Online);November 26, 2020 CSEAS Colloquium presentations, Kyoto University; December 04, 2020 Mexican Political Economy Conference, University of Puebla (Online); March 08, 2021 Global Cities Workshop, Institute of Social Theory and Dynamics-Japan (Online). We have carried out substantial online research confirming the status of the corona virus in target research areas and fed this into the above conference presentations.

理由
Due to the Covid-19 more than 3 million people have died. On April 28, 2021 Mexico (129 million pop) reported 210,593 total deaths, mostly concentrated in urban areas. Likewise the Philippines (106 million) reported 17,145 deaths and Japan (125 million) 10,107. As a result it has been extremely difficult to travel domestically and for the next FY, internationally to the two proposed research sites. In light of this we are sightly behind schedule. We are presently negotiating to employ qualified researchers in Manila and Mexico City to help execute research.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Currently we are finalizing interviews with Filipina and Mexican married with Japanese men, living in Japan and testing a pilot survey. We have contacted research assistants who will conduct fieldwork for us in two locations. These we will train to make sure that they have the adequate skills to execute our project. Monitoring of fieldwork and complementary research will take place through online interviews with urban poor householders (where connectivity allows).
We have processed and analyzed data obtained in Japan. After execution of research in two locales
we will evaluate data and review hypothesis to situate in theoretical discussions on Corporate Food Consumption and the skilling/deskilling of urban poor.
