研究実績の概要 |
This project primarily aimed to explore a suitable model for agritourism specially for the developing countries. The agritourism model is supposed to be based on the available local resources. In order to fulfill the objectives, I performed two field surveys in Nepal and one literature survey. Then, based on the data collection, I wrote the papers and suggested the agritourism model for Nepal. Although in the first stage of COVID-19 in 2020, my research activities were significantly influenced. However, I managed to perform surveys using online platforms and write papers. Due to the technologies like zoom and teams, I could present it at international and domestic conferences. Ultimately, a total of 7 papers and a PhD dissertation were published. All of them are available online and peer-reviewed. Out of which, females' roles, agritourism development guidelines, and implications for developing countries are the most valuable research outputs from agritourism development perspectives in developing countries. Specifically, for the agritourism development in developing countries like Nepal, I found that agritourism development has huge potential. But, there are some challenges as well. During the agritourism development, the policymakers should target short-time migrants and young people more. Further, females' roles in agritourism are also crucial with household activities. The combined tourism model, which includes nearby tourist attractions like trekking and hiking, would encourage people to visit agritourism in Nepal.

理由
Initially, this study was designed to explore three-tier journal articles. However, I could able to manage more than double it. Additionally, during the field survey and through other means, the results are being discussed in Nepal and throughout the world. It means the consensus for agritourism has increased inside Nepal. It is the most noteworthy achievement of this project. Moreover, the citations of the papers are also increasing. This shows the impacts of the research on the international peers as well.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
This project has increased the consensus among Nepalese farmers and other stakeholders. Thus, the next step is how to develop a prototype of agritourism so that it can be an umbrella project for other developing countries. For this reason, using the Kakenhi, the next project has already been started. In the next four years, I will develop a prototype of a responsible agritourism model for Nepal. Which, I believe, can be implemented in other rural destinations of both developed and developing countries.
