研究実績の概要 |
The 2021 academic year productive, both in terms of progress in this research project as well as for research achievements. Data collection instruments have been decided after consultation with scholars in the field of vocabulary acquisition. Also, the first stage of data collection has commenced among participants at both the PI's and CI's universities. The PI published an article in a international peer-reviewed journal and both CIs have co-authored a publication in an international journal about vocabulary and reading comprehension.

2: おおむね順調に進展している
理由
After more than a year of delays due to the impact of COVID-19 and the cancellation or shortening of university study abroad programs (which negatively impacted our ability to collect data as planned), the project is back on the planned timetable with the resumption of study abroad programs.
|
今後の研究の推進方策 |
Our plans for year 3 include: 1) continue data collection for the first cohort of long-term study-abroad participants, including vocabulary knowledge and degree of lexical diversity; 2) collect similar pre- and post-study abroad data for a cohort of short-term study abroad participants that will be used to compare to the long-term participant data; and 3) write a paper of the short-term results for submission to an international journal.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, the researchers have been unable to attend and present at overseas conferences as planned. Also, expenses incurred by data collection have been impacted by the cancellation of planned study abroad programs. However, we anticipate resumption of data collection and their related expenses as well as those for attendance at international conferences in the 2022 fiscal year.
