My research partners and I were able to give the results of the 2020 and 2021 surveys to five conferences during 2022 and March 2023. One of them was in at the 57th RELC International Conference in Singapore. On April 19, 2023, we gave our final presentation about these results at the MatsuyamaJALT. Also we were able to publish our results in the JACET Chugoku/Shikoku Bulletin in March 2023 titled "A survey of English teachers’ medium of instruction in remote learning." Because of these results, we were able to continue our research for a new kakenhi research budget from April 2023 to March 2027.In conclusion, we found there were no major differences in MOI use on ZOOM and in face-to-face classes, thought teachers used slightly more Japanese in face to face. JTEs tend to use Japanese and English and NJTEs tend to use mainly English, though both groups found coping strategies (e.g., chat, “helpers,” translation apps, etc. However, it appeared that teachers have adapted their MOI to remote learning through experience, and gained new options (e.g., writing functions). We found there were no major differences in MOI use on ZOOM and in face-to-face classes, thought teachers used slightly more Japanese in face to face.
