研究実績の概要 |
As stated in previous reports, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we altered our initial research plan and decided to focus attention on South American Diaspora Ethnic Entrepreneurs in Japan (SADEE). We conducted field research at three sites in Japan, Aichi Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture and Okinawa Prefecture. We are using the theoretical framework of embeddedness to better understand the lived experienced of what we have termed the South American Diaspora Ethnic Entrepreneurs (SADEEs) and have conducted interviews and site visits with fifteen SADEE. The relationships we were able to build with them allowed the building of trust in order to gain a deep perspective of their embedded experience. The interview records have been recorded, transcribed, and are in the final stages of confirmation and checking with the participants. Interviews were conducted in a mixture of English, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese, and all interview records have been completed and are being verified in English and Japanese. By the end of the research, they will also be available in the respondent's native language. Analysis will begin shortly, and the final goal will be to publish an academic book on the experiences of SADEE in Japan. We will also provide supplementary material (such as worksheets for students and cases available in multiple languages) online available to download. We feel we have a responsibility to the society and culture of the respondents to give back and share the stories with the community in their native languages.
