研究実績の概要 |
We spent FY2020 checking and repairing the condition of the experimental apparatus. As a result, we have preliminary confirmation that leaks are no longer a pacing issue. We also progressed numerical simulations of past experimental cases, which seemed to confirm the modes of hollow sphere formation observed with various liquid metals. To better handle high density ratio between the liquid and solid phase, we have investigated use of the open source code Basilisk (http://basilisk.fr/)and successfully coded the program for a single jet simulation. We now plan to modify the code and set the configuration for 3 fluid simulations.

Arrival of researcher Dr. Kunal BHAGAT, who has developed the apparatus and techniques and whose presence is essential to running experiments, has been delayed due to COVID.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
We aim to resume experiments in the next two months, first without an inner nozzle. We will also test the application of the Basilisk software to three-fluid simulations of a hollow gas-liquid jet.
