研究実績の概要 |
This project, we have developed new isopropyl-functionalized polyamine (IPFPA) based non-aqueous solvent (NAS) for the recovery of CO2 from post-combustion flue gases that will achieve a significant increase in CO2 capture performances with a reduction of solvent regeneration energy. The IPFPA was synthesized by the reduction of PA’s primary amine (-NH2) site (s) with acetone. A total of 10 new (Generation II) IPFPA(s) was synthesized with high purity (>98%) and excellent yield (>96%) during the second year of the project. The synthesized IPFPA’s structure was determined by spectroscopic method. The IPFPA based NAS was made by mixing IPFPA as absorbent and commercially available alcohol/non-alcohol as solvent. The IPFPA based NAS was optimized, thoroughly measuring all relevant properties, and identify three high performance NAS that will give high CO2 absorption rate, high cyclic amount of CO2, and consume the minimal amount of heat energy. Three IPFPA based NAS was identified that will not formed any precipitate/solid upon exposure to CO2 and showed low viscos (cP = 3.93 ~ 21.0) homogeneous mixture (single phase) at the whole range of CO2 loading with excellent CO2 performances.

理由
The applicant completed all isopropyl-functionalized polyamines (IPFPA) synthesis mentioned in the research plan and performed their CO2 capture performance evaluation based on different screening tests. Three high performer polyamine was identified which showed higher CO2 absorption rate, lower heats of reaction, higher amount of CO2 recovery, and lower viscosity compared to benchmark monoethanolamine (MEA). Now efforts are given three high IPFPA performers bulk scale synthesis to perform VLE experiment under equilibrium condition at different temperature and pressure in order to obtain maximum working capacity. From the results of screening tests, the applicant identified several sets of high performance IPFPA based NAS with low viscosity, high absorption rate, high cyclic CO2 capacity and consume minimal heat energy for CO2 regeneration. These findings were presented in one international and one national conference.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Finalize the optimal PFPA’s based NAS(s), perform VLE test under equilibrium condition at different temperature and pressure in order to obtain maximum working capacity. 13C NMR spectroscopy will be used to analyze the CO2-loaded solution species identification. Finally conduct bench-scale test, finalize systems and economic analyses, and develop a path forward for bench-scale and pilot-plant testing.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The outsourcing chemicals price is higher than the remaining fund. As a result, the chemical purchase was delayed. The specific chemicals will purchase this FY by adjusting the remaining fund. Last year remaining fund will adjust with this year fund to purchase chemicals, CO2 and N2 gases, laboratory glassware, books, journals reprints, domestic and foreign conferences.
