研究実績の概要

Using a previously developed framework to simulate the evolution of Transposable Elements (TEs), we performed simulation of the sequence evolution of TEs to better understand how TE families evolve. Specifically, we created a scenario where a species containing a TE family split in to two, and the TE family is evolving independently in the two different species. We then calculated the divergence between the TE families in the two different species at different time points under various different parameter settings. We are currently establishing a theoretical framework to describe the divergence between TE families in different species.

2: おおむね順調に進展している

理由

We have been able to perform the simulation of TE evolution and analyze the results of the simulation as planned.

今後の研究の推進方策

Based on the simulation results, we well establish a theoretical framework that describes the expected divergence between TE sequences in different species. Then, we will compare our theoretical results with TE sequences from various plant species that have been published and discuss how the TE families in each plant species have evolved. We will also implement the action of non-allelic gene conversion in our simulation framework.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

We have not been able to attend scientific meetings and hold on-site meetings due to the COVID-19. Instead, we will use the incurring amount to purchase computer softwares and tools to better facilitate teleworking and online communication.
