研究実績の概要 |
We continued to explore further the effect of High fat diet on lung repair after a fibrosis-inducing injury, focusing on the effect on lung stem cells. We previously reported that High fat diet delayed the contribution of alveolar stem cells in the repair process and delayed the resolution of inflammation and fibrosis compared to the standard diet. Now we are focusing on the specific role of bronchioalveolar stem cells in this delay. Bronchioalveolar stem cells are rare in the lung compared to alveolar cells, so identifying their critical influence on repair will represent a major advance in our knowledge. We are also examining the effect of various inhibitors of Fatty Acid Oxidation on the high fat diet-induced delay in alveolar repair and fibrosis resolution.

We almost finished the original plan and are now expanding our experiments to get a better understanding of the mechanisms involved.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
We planned this last year but was delayed due to some Corona-related logistics. We are considering it again, that is performing a comprehensive lipidomic analysis on the mice lungs to find out what are the lung metabolites that were influenced by the high fat diet, and how it affected the lung stem cells.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
We will use this amount to gather more data regarding the mechanism by which high fat diet delayed the lung repair. We will also use it to cover the expenses of presenting our data in the ISSCR annual conference.
