研究実績の概要 |
Two research papers on overtourism have been completed and submitted to academic journals. However, the data analysis approach employed by the research collaborators was unconventional and not well-received by the journal reviewers, leading to rejection of both articles. The papers have undergone several rounds of revisions based on the feedback from the reviewers, and we have incorporated additional information to address the concerns raised by the journal reviewers. We remain optimistic that the papers will be accepted for publication and contribute to the ongoing discussion on sustainable tourism practices. Meanwhile, this fund was utilized to support the publication of two research papers on the impact of Covid-19 on the visit intentions of domestic tourists to onsen, which are considered one of the most significant cultural heritages in Japan.

理由
One research paper has undergone multiple rounds of review and discussion with the reviewers, and we are currently awaiting the editor's decision. As for the second journal paper, the status has been "reviewers invited" since early February 2023, and we have reached out to the journal editor twice regarding the delayed process as it appears that the review process has not yet begun. However, we are pleased to report that a conference presentation on the project's theme received the best presentation award at a tourism conference in Kanazawa in March 2023. Currently, we are in the process of developing and preparing to launch a market survey among Kyoto residents this summer.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
We have realized that our current research activities have been predominantly qualitative, with an unconventional approach. To improve the chances of publication in well-established tourism journals, we plan to shift our focus to market research, using established questionnaire instruments and statistical analysis methods. We believe that this change in approach will lead to greater success in our submissions.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The original budget for 2022 included the following items, which could not be utilized during this fiscal year: 1) the budget allocated for market research had to be postponed due the reconsideration of the research instrument. Consequently, the budget was carried over to the academic and fiscal year of 2023.Covid-19 pandemic personal travel was refrained from. 2) a small portion of the budget allocated to market survey was now used for qualitative research with the market survey having been postponed to summer/autumn 2023.
