研究実績の概要 |
To increase and diversify findings from previous years, the researcher collected data from sixty to ninety-minute interviews with a Filipino trans woman migrant and two representatives of organizations that support detainees in Japan. The trans woman detainee was interviewed when she was still detained at the Japanese immigration bureau and received her provisional release. Other interviews with NGO members were conducted in person and via Zoom. This study examines the migration experiences of Filipino trans women in Japan during the last three decades and contemporary times. This research uses an intersectionality framework to explore how gender and ethnicity affect the trans migrants' work, relationships, and visa status. Based on the project's themes on gender and migration, the findings and implications were presented at two international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
This study involves fieldwork at entertainment clubs in various prefectures in Japan. Due to the pandemic, the fieldwork was changed to the Japanese immigration bureau and used netnography as part of the methodology. Since the pandemic continues to limit the fieldwork of this study, books and online resources are utilized to analyze the current data. Simultaneously, the researcher continues the in-depth analysis of existing data, writes papers for publications, and gives presentations at conferences.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The budget was mainly used for purchasing books, online subscriptions, proofreading services, honorariums for the research participants, membership fees of academic organizations, and participation fees in international conferences. Reasons for incurring costs in 2021 involve a budget to collect more data, conduct fieldwork, and consult with experts to analyze data and provide helpful feedback. These research activities will include honorariums and professional fees. The researcher will incur costs in 2021 to renew annual membership fees of academic organizations, pay conference fees, purchase items, and supplies related to the study during the implementation of the project.
