研究実績の概要 |
This year I made several academic presentations based on my research (“‘Leprosy’ in Translation: Lois Johnson Erickson and Hansen’s Disease in Japan,”“Women and Medicine in the Japanese Empire” 3rd virtual symposium; From Private Trauma to Public Memory: Hansen's Disease Poetry and Social Reconciliation, Global Japanese Studies Research Workshop, Osaka University; Heterglossia and the Poetics of Kojima no Haru, and all of them virtual and open to the public. In particular, the presentations I gave drew on two different chapters for my book and one book chapter about Ogawa Masako (Heterglossia and the Poetics of Kojima no Haru; Medical Culture in East Asian Cinema and Media) and gender in a volume on the body in East Asian cinema that is forthcoming in summer 2022. I also have several additional presentations on the remaining book chapters scheduled for 2022, both in person and online, and the work on the book manuscript continues at a good pace despite limited access to archival materials.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In 2022 I plan to publish a book chapter on Ogawa Masako and complete the remaining archival research that allows me to finish a draft on the book that can be sent to publishers. I will also make several academic and publish presentations this year. I hope, if time permits, to also publish some translations of the writers I have been working on.
