| 研究実績の概要 |
In phase one of the project, I conducted a literature review from various databases and articles to investigate the contemporary adaptation of the life of the nineteenth-century blind writer and its reception.
I obtained the previously unpublished transcript of the play “Frances Browne: In My Mind’s Eye” from its author and analyzed it.
Following that, I conducted an interview with the author.
The results were presented at an international conference, Nineteenth-Century Studies Association Annual Virtual Conference, on March 11, 2021.

理由
The research encountered unexpected challenges caused by travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In phase two of the project, I will first focus on additional data collection at three institutions in the United Kingdom.
Second, I will conduct an interview with the Literary Manager of Lyric Theatre Ireland as well as other key personnels in their respective roles/fields regarding audience response and the theatrical convention. The results will be integrated with the existing study.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the travel restrictions, travel to Belfast, Ireland, to 1) conduct interviews with the key personnels of the play/theatre project and 2) collect data from institutions, associations, and individual researchers was postponed.
Given the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 situation, the unpredictability of travel plans may continue through the year 2021. Consequently, the funds will be used for the following plans: 1) collect data using web archives and digital archives, and 2) present research findings at online conferences.
