研究実績の概要 |
In early April, I conducted a semi-structured online interview with one of the recruited participants, Literary Manager at Lyric Theatre Belfast. Her job includes coordinating and directing the writing development programme to support new and early-career playwrights. In that capacity, she worked with Shirley-Anne Godfrey to develop the play, which is the focus of this project. The analysis of the information gathered from the interview, together with the earlier conversation with Godfrey, was presented as a paper entitled "Beyond the Question of Authenticity: The Theatrical Adaptations of Nineteenth-century Disability Narratives" at the Victorians Institute Annual Conference in October. Aside from the above, my research focused on gathering the literature that addresses the sociocultural issues of Irish theatre and performance.

理由
The project's progress continued being impacted during 2021, as in the previous year, by the COVID-19 pandemic. The following research components were delayed explicitly due to international travel restrictions: 1) conducting archival research at The British Library and The Library of Trinity College Dublin, and 2) analyzing the data I have collected and incorporating them into the manuscript. Furthermore, the researcher experienced unexpected changes in work patterns with the increased workload due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
During FY2022, the researcher will continue the further analysis of the data obtained in 2021, along with additional data collection at three institutions in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The results will be integrated with the preliminary findings of this study and be presented at an international conference. Currently, the findings of the study are planned to be presented online at The Midwest Victorian Studies Association Conference in May.
