| 研究実績の概要 |
In the early stage of the project, research has focused on literature review (mainly Russian and English) as originally planned to organise the existing arguments on China-Russia relations and construct a clear-cut analytical framework, which is to be employed to evaluate the long-term relations between China and Russia.
Empirical analysis has focused on China-Russia relations in South-East Asia, with a particular focus on the region surrounding the South China Sea. Analysis has been focused on China-Russia relations through the lens of Russia’s activities in Southeast Asia. Specifically, Russia's involvements in Vietnam was analysed, as well as China-Russia interaction surrounding the South China Sea, seeking to examine how the “comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era” between China and Russia unfolds in the region surrounding the South China Sea and beyond.

All the interviews and international trips have been postponed due to the situation worldwide related to the global pandemics.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
The research will further investigate China-Russia interactions in selected issue areas after the current topic is completed and presented at an international conference in Poland. A number of interviews will be conducted to (1) understand the perceptions of China-Russia relations among the political elites of Western countries; and (2) capture the perceptions of China-Russia relations in Russia.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Most of the activities involving international traveling have been postponed to the next fiscal year due to the pandemics-related situation, therefore, the planned expenditure will be transferred to the next year to conduct interviews, collect materials, and present research at the conferences.
