研究実績の概要 |
The first stage of this project is to understand expatriate cross-cultural adjustment from an emotional perspective, and the second stage is to study the organizational factors that influence the relationship. For stage 1, the paper "Sympathetic or distressed? The moderating role of negative emotion differentiation in helping behavior" was accepted for publication in an international peer-reviewed journal (ABS 3). The connection between individual emotion differentiation and copying strategy received preliminary support. For stage 2, the PI and coauthors focuse on the characteristics and strategies of multinational national enterprises because they provide a suitable work setting for cross-cultural adjustment behaviors. The two papers were published in international peer-reviewed journals. One is “Is failure the mother of success? Prior failure experience and cross-border M&A completion by emerging market firms.” (ABS 3 journal). The other is “Foreign investment or divestment as a near-term solution to performance shortfalls? The moderating role of vicarious learning.” (ABS 3 journal). These two papers adopt an international business perspective to study the potential organizational factors that may influence individual cross-cultural adjustment behavior.

理由
The progress is slightly behind the schedule. For study 1, the PI was supposed to conduct two rounds of data collection in FY2021, both online and offline. On-site data collections were delayed because the company was out of business due to Covid 19. Study 2 is progressing as planned.
|
今後の研究の推進方策 |
The PI will contact other companies for the two rounds of data collection in FY2022 while continue working on the current projects. A major effort will be spent on data collection, data analysis and journal submission. The latest results will be shared with the international and domestic research community through conferences, seminars, and journal publications.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Domestic and international research trips were still canceled due to the COVID-19, leaving a substantial amount of budget surplus for traveling and on-site data collection. The on-site research activities are expected to gradually reassume in FY2022, which will incur more costs on domestic traveling, data collection, and proofreading services.
