研究実績の概要 |
The materials and design of the market-available anti-vibration gloves were investigated. A wear trial was conducted by 16 male subjects on five types of anti-vibration gloves made of chloroprene and spacer fabric. The surface electromyography of three forearm muscles was measured during gripping, key pinching, woodblock transporting, screw insertion and screw driving tasks. The results showed that hand dexterity was inhibited and more muscle activities are required to carry woodblocks when wearing the spacer fabric glove without special design feature. A thicker glove can help to reduce the muscle activity of the flexor digitorum superficialis when using an impact driver. A thinner dorsal and tailoring padding can facilitate hand dexterity. The findings can become a reference for designing anti-vibration gloves. A novel 3D structured weft-knitted fabric was developed. The structure consists of a silicone tube inlaid into a spacer fabric structure. Two inlaying methods were proposed to evaluate the effect of the spacer yarns, the presence of the inlay, and inlay density and pattern on the physical and mechanical properties. The results showed that the compression behavior of the fabric can be modified with different inlay patterns and stitch densities. An inlaid silicone tube reinforces the structure and provides spacer fabrics with better performance as a cushioning material for vibration isolation. This developed material would be used for further developing into an anti-vibration glove.

理由
Following the proposed research plan, the examination of the current anti-vibration gloves and the construction and development of 3D structured weft-knitted fabric have been conducted in the first year of this project. The outcomes are also significant and useful for the next stage of designing glove prototypes.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The research study will move to the next stage for the design of anti-vibration glove prototypes by using the developed knitted fabric. The development will concern about the location of the anti-vibration materials, the combination of kind of different fabrics, the shape and pattern of the gloves and the glove assembly method. The ability of the glove prototypes to isolate vibration will be assessed according to the testing standard, ISO 10819 2013. Additional assessment will be designed to assess finger dexterity, hand performance and wearing comfort.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the pandemic, all the business trips were cancelled and hence the no travel expense occurred this year. The selection of suitable force sensor for fabrics and gloves evaluation is still under consideration and have not been purchased. It will be purchased in the next fiscal year.
