研究実績の概要 |
In this research project, my primary objective was to compare the functional organization of the macaque and human cerebellar cortices. For macaque monkeys, data acquisition was successfully completed for high-resolution structural images by 2021 and for functional imaging by 2022. The comparison of the functional organization of the cerebellum revealed significant species differences, particularly in working memory, higher-visual, and default-mode networks. Interestingly, the human cerebro-cerebellar language network in macaque monkeys exhibit functional connectivity only auditory areas suggesting it is an early pre-language circuit. Unfortunately, the project experienced significant delays due to a failure of the 2023 Kobe RIKEN cloud server, where all the analyzed data was stored. This has caused substantial setbacks to the project. Nonetheless, manuscript is currently in preparation.
