研究実績の概要

During the course of this project, I identified a gene, ALKBH1, which is responsible for a number of tRNA modifications, to be critical for the maintenance of glioma stemness and response to ferroptosis and oxidative stress (Rashad et al, Neuroscience, 2022). My work also identified the role of ALKBH1 in regulating tRNA cleavage and stability and its impact on cellular oxidative stress (Rashad et al, J Cell Phys, 2020). Studies started during the course of this project led to the identification of a number of interesting tRNA modifying enzymes and their potential role in glioma and other cancers. These genes are under study as a part of my newly awarded Kiban B, which is a continuation of this project.
