Based on our previous findings, we examined the level of mRNA expression of clock genes and histone modification markers in mouse and human breast carcinoma cells following treatment with D-glucose and D-allose. According to our observations, which are similar with earlier reports, treatment with D-glucose tended to increase glut1 mRNA expression, while D-allose treatment significantly reduced it. Interestingly, we found that the clock gene Cry2 expression was significantly upregulated in D-allose-treated-human and mouse breast cancer cells. Importantly, we observed that D-allose treatment reduced both the HDAC1 and HDAC2 mRNA expression. These data clearly indicate that there is a strong correlation with the histone modification with that of clock gene especially Cry2 in breast carcinoma.
