研究実績の概要 |
In the first year of this project, we worked on constructing the databases on low-emission heating and cooling technologies and relevant supportive market-based and supportive policies, as the main input parameters to our model. At the same time, the thermal modeling of the sample building has progressed. A part of our preliminary results has been presented in the International Conference on Clean and Green Energy Engineering (CGEE) on August 2020. Our presentation has received a Best Presentation Award from this conference.

理由
The research project has progressed smoothly according to the plan, which has been submitted in the proposal. We successfully developed our database on low-emission heating and cooling technologies, which covers parameters such as technology efficiencies and capacity factors, technology shares in market, fuel consumption and emissions, capital and running costs and the learning curves. Developing the policy database also has progressed by conducting a comprehensive literature review. Meanwhile, constructing a thermal model of the sample building has progressed based on the Japanese building codes and merogonial data.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the future steps of this research, we are going to integrate the constructed databases and the thermal model for the sample building in order to conduct scenario analysis. It will provide us a projection on the effect of market-based and regulatory policies on adoption of low-emission heating and cooling technologies by Japanese households. Visiting our research collaborators abroad in order to work together on integration of databases and thermal model, as it was mentioned in the research proposal, has faced a challenge due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. However, we have tried using online meeting tools to overcome this issue, as much as possible. We will keep observing the condition in order to maintain effective research collaboration with research partners in future steps as well.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Visiting our research collaborators abroad in order to work together on integration of databases and thermal model, as it was mentioned in the research proposal, and in-person participation in conferences have faced a challenge due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Therefore, we were not able to allocate expenditures to the “Travel Expenses”. On the other hand, the final cost of the software license that we purchased from Japanese distributer was higher than initial cost estimate. The combination of these two factors is resulted to transferring around 556,000 Yen to the next fiscal year. We are planning to use this budget in the next year’s Article Costs.
