| 研究実績の概要 |
The main purpose of this research is to examine the roles of major tourism events (such as the Olympics) on the revitalization of the tourism
industries, particularly by communities impacted by recent disasters.
We had applied for this budget in late 2019 and was awarded the grant in 2020. However by this time the COVID-19 pandemic has started, leading
to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics, whose status is still uncertain.
As a result we were unable to conduct fieldwork in 2020 and conducted fieldwork in late 2021 instead. By April of 2022, fieldwork has been completed as we conducted surveys and interviews in the Tohoku and Kyushu regions between August 2021 to February 2022.

理由
We were able to conduct our fieldwork from August 2021 after the ending of the Olympics to February-March of 2022. Currently we are compiling the data and producing several articles based on our research data.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Currently we are wrapping up our research and plan to submit several articles.
The first looks at the impacts of the Olympics on disaster recovery efforts in Fukushima and Miyagi. Another article looks at the impacts of the Rugby World Cup in areas recovering from the Kyushu Earthquakes and flood. Another article examines the impact of COVID19 on the recovery of the Onsen industry.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
This year's money was used to fund research activities. We first used the research funds to hire Rakuten to collect survey samples from random respondents. From this data, we conducted interviews to acquire more detailed data from our research subjects. This is where most of our travel expenses occurs.
