研究実績の概要 |
During the past 12 months I have completed four projects (2 papers published, 1 accepted, 1 submitted) on the topics directly related to the proposed themes, and have co-authored one paper (submitted) which is adjacently relevant to the main project. I have also delivered 15 invited talks, including an invited national colloquium.
I have led a paper on GW-galaxy cross-correlations (APJ published) studying the power of next generation GW detectors for model-independently testing theories of gravity, as well as probing the origin of black hole mergers via their spatial clustering properties. I have released a code for performing GW-galaxy correlation forecasting analyses. In a study regarding the origin of GW sources (APJ accepted) I have explored the possibility of the recently observed NS-BH mergers containing a Primordial BH. In a submitted paper I and my collaborators have explored the possibility of distinguishing the primordial- and astro-BH scenarios due to distinct signals of the stochastic GW background anisotropies. I have published a novel idea on inflationary GW backgrounds (PRL published, Kavli IPMU press release) which is of high importance for observational prospects of low-scale inflation. I am working on an ongoing project (with intermediate results) regarding the realistic modeling and detectability of GW clustering signal in conjunction with electromagnetic data.
The completed projects overall address the three major objectives in the original research proposal, while the ongoing research aims at obtaining more refined understanding of some of the aspects.

現在までの達成度 (区分)
1: 当初の計画以上に進展している
理由
The research so far has progressed smoothly, without any delays on deliverables, and overall resulting in more papers than originally planned. Additionally, I have managed to deliver multiple research talks (mostly online) based on the obtained results. However, most of the brainstorming, discussions and work, being carried out as collaborative efforts involving researchers from abroad, have been performed remotely because the COVID pandemic did not allow for easy in-person meetings.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Currently, I am working on an ongoing project regarding the realistic modeling of GW clustering. Depending on the obtained results, the project might be split into two parallel projects in the future, one concerning the practical detectability of GW clustering signal with current and future GW detectors, and the other concerning the clustering modeling in astrophysical and primordial black hole scenarios.
One of the components in both of these directions is generation of a realistic mock catalogue, potentially based on numerical simulations. I will continue working on this aspect in the upcoming months. In order to facilitate the progress on these directions I am currently planning a visit to several institutes in the Netherlands and Canada, where I can discuss and work with experts on various aspects of the project.
Additionally, during such visits, I am planning to continue brainstorming on other related projects in various stages of maturity regarding multi-messenger aspects of GW cosmology.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
There have been changes in the original budget spendings because of the COVID-related suspensions of international visits. I will aim to remedy this aspect in the FY2022 (I am in the middle of planning visits for the summer 2022). The reminder of the funds will be used to finance my international visits in the FY2022, as well as for acquiring research equipment items (such as a computer screen), and subscriptions for research services such as Overleaf and Dropbox.
