研究概要

陸上に露出している過去の沈み込みプレート境界の堆積物を対象に,その固さを弾性波速度で定量化し,その分布と岩石化プロセスを検討した。調査地域は四国白亜系四万十帯である。手法として,弾性波速度測定器の開発と,野外調査とサンプル採取,弾性波速度の測定を行った。その結果,現在の南海地震断層には高圧の流体の存在,地震発生深度における岩相による岩石化プロセスの相違,深部における粘土鉱物の脱水による流体の集中過程などが明らかとなった。
