研究概要

ショウジョウバエの脳をモデルとして、中枢神経の形成機構を研究した。視覚中枢のラミナ神経節およびメダラ神経節は同じ神経表皮に由来するものの全く異なったメカニズムで分化増殖することを明らかにした、また嗅覚中枢のキノコ体の形成には、平面細胞極性およびアクチン再構成に関わる遺伝子群が機能すること、さらに機能スクリーニングにより、機能未知の遺伝子の働きが必要であることを明らかにした。
