研究概要

六脚類(広義の昆虫類)の高次系統「内顎類-外顎類システム」はこれまで広く支持されてきたが、近年、内顎類、欠尾類の単系統性を疑問視する系統仮説が提出されている。本研究は、内顎類3目の重要な共有派生形質である内顎口の形成過程を厳密に比較することにより、内顎類の単系統性、3目の系統関係を検証しようとするものである。結果、カマアシムシ目とトビムシ目の内顎口の相同性は支持されるが、カマアシムシ目/トビムシ目とコムシ目の内顎口の相同性は認められなかった。すなわち、欠尾類は妥当であるが、内顎類の単系統性は支持されない。
