研究概要

カタユウレイボヤは脊椎動物とともに脊索動物門を構成する動物である。本研究では、ゲノムの情報に基づく手法によって、卵内に蓄えられた母性因子は5つの異なる遺伝子ネットワークの初期状態を作り出すことを明らかにし、そこから始まる胚発生の遺伝子ネットワークを時間的・空間的に調節する機構を解析した。脊椎動物の頭部プラコードの誕生に関わった可能性のある遺伝子回路の発見し、動物の背腹軸決定に使われるシグナル分子Admpに特異的なアンタゴニストPinheadの同定した。 Admp-Pillheadの遺伝子ペアが進化の上でゲノム上で隣接する位置に保存されてきた背景にある新奇転写抑制機構を明らかにした。
