研究実績の概要 |
The research during the first year was delayed because of Covid 19. In the second year, the situation was better. I managed to interview automotive companies both large well established multinational corporations, local carmakers and part suppliers, and start-ups) and policy makers in Thailand and Vietnam, namely Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, FOMM, VINFAST). I also collected secondary data from companies' reports and newspapers.

理由
due to the unexpected pandemic of covid 19, I was unable to travel to conduct interviews in Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. For Thailand and Vietnam, I managed to get some interviews. However, they are not enough. I would like to interview more companies. Online interviews have limitation, as interviewees are less willing to provide confidential information. Besides, I cannot have visit of factories and R&D laboratories to evaluate the real activities.
Another unexpected circumstance is the substantial increase in the airfare. I estimate the budget from my previous travelling experiences. This has been and will be affecting the number of trips and length of stays I planned in the proposal.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
I plan to conduct interview of firms in Malaysia and Indonesia. If they are less willing to grant personal interviews due to avoidance of face-to-face contacts. I will try to ask for online interviews, though it might be difficult. If possible and within the budget, I also want to interview more firms and policy makers in Thailand and Vietnam as well.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
due to the situation of covid-19 pandemic, I could not travel as planned. To make it up, I will conduct interview in Southeast Asian countries in the Fiscal Year 2023.
