| 研究実績の概要 |
The first year of the project achieved the following objectives:
1. Establishing a field experiment where plants at multiple sites were tagged and monitored for leaf phenology
2. Establishing a growth chamber experiment where 6 species of trees were grown in two controlled environments simulating current climate conditions and future 1.5oC warming environment. Plants were monitored for changes in leaf traits including leaf longevity
3. Photosynthetic data were collected for the simulation of seasonal carbon budget which will be used to estimate leaf- and plant-level carbon assimilative performance (ie. Leaf Functional Parity)

理由
Progress is in line with the original research plans proposed. There were some technical issued involved during the first year but these have been resolved for the second year of sampling and data-collection.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Both the field and growth chamber experiments are established according to plan so we expect to produce high quality data from these experiments during the coming season. More focus will be placed in the assessment of photosynthetic response patterns in the second year with more species measured and better data replication. Also in the second year, the photosynthetic data will be combined with microclimate data to begin simulation of leaf performance and seedling fitness on multiple forest species.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The amount incurred is due to insufficient funds for purchasing experimental materials in the first year. This amount will be used for consumables in the second year.
