The research activities for 2021 went according to the research plan. I created a database of social accounting matrices to conduct key sector analysis. I also conducted product space analysis on export bundles in Central Africa. The results were combined with findings from gravity model regressions to identify regional sectoral complementarities in production and cross-border value chains with growth potential. Furthermore, I took a stock of past and current industrial and trade policies in Central Africa and synthesized economic policies and institutional reforms that were carried out specifically through the promotion of domestic enterprises and entrepreneurship development. Following preliminary data analysis, I began writing 2 paper drafts to present the result at an academic conference.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Over the next year the plan is to first write 3 papers analyzing the collected data. The first paper the coherence between trade policies and industrial policies in Central Africa. The 2 remaining paper focus on key sector analysis. One paper will consider the evolution of key sector in DRC and Central Africa and their effect on structural transformation. The other will consider the relation between productive capacity and structural change in key sectors.
Second, I would like to conduct an original firm-level surveys in some targeted countries and conduct further econometric analysis to assess firm productivity and profitability, the use of intermediate and imported inputs, industrial skills gaps, and the determinants of exporting. This part of the research will also design a supranational industrial policy to promote trade, business development, and pro-poor growth.
Third, I will aim to present at least 2 of the papers at an international conference and upon receiving feedback submit the manuscripts to a peer reviewed international journal.
