研究実績の概要 |
This study examines researchers’ perspectives on challenges and opportunities influencing the development of international research collaborations between Japanese researchers and their research collaborators.
Research systems in each nation differently shape the scholarship identity of each individual researcher. It will be necessary for researchers and their collaborators to recognize emerging challenges in developing research agendas, communicating with stakeholders, and understanding guidelines of government funding agencies across nations.
This study results will be beneficial to individual researchers, research support professionals, institutional leaders, and policy makers to understand how to advance research policies and explore for administrative and research support interventions.

理由
The principal investigator analyzed research policies and presented the analysis results at the 57th Japan Comparative Education Society Annual Conference in 2021. The principal investigator could exchange ideas with scholars and refine the conceptual framework of this study in JCES.
To prepare for the data collection process, the principal investigator requested approval from the Sophia University Ethics Committee for Research on Human Subjects. By incorporating feedback and suggestions by the Ethics Committee, the principal investigator refined the invitation letter and the consent form.
After receiving approval from the Ethics Committee in July 2021, the principal investigator established the online consent form platform to collect e-signature from the prospective interview participants.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Due to the expansion of the impact of the COVID-19 infection, the principal investigator could not send the interview invitation letter to the prospective interview participants around the world via the Japan Post Service. The Japan Post Service advised the principal investigator not to use the international outbound mail service due to the delayed or limited postal service availability. Therefore, the principal investigator decided to contact the interview participants only by email.
In the second year, the principal investigator will focus on collecting interview data and conducting qualitative interview data analysis. The principal investigator will schedule interviews with each individual researcher either by phone or online communication platforms based on their requested preferences.

Therefore, the principal investigator decided to contact all prospective interview participants only by email.
