Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is usually aggressive, harder to treat, and more likely to come back. Wnt signaling is a potential therapeutic target because it is particularly activated in TNBC. However, disruption of Wnt signaling in non-cancerous cells also influences normal cellular functions. This research attempts to develop a targeted therapy for TNBC using a light-harvesting nanoparticle. In FY2022, we mainly investigated biological effects of these nanoparticles on TNBC growth, and elucidated the involved mechanisms in the context of Wnt signaling in response to light-driven nanoparticle treatment. The biocompatibility of nanoparticles was also evaluated using normal fibroblasts.
