研究実績の概要 |
4 Preliminary assessments were performed on healthy participants in dummy experimental conditions. Evaluation setup consisting of eye-tracking, neuropsychological test and TMS have been tested and ready for use. 2 revisions to the TMS protocol were made (Specific clinical trial). Currently approved by jRCT. 7 Parkinson's disease (PD) patients have been recruited according to inclusion criteria. PD database have been continuously updated to add more patients every week (Mondays) with pareidolia misperceptions. Biweekly meetings are organized to update recruitment and related issues. One research article has been published in this year related to this project (journal - Brain Connectivity). Travel grant was awarded for one presentation selected for JSN 2021.

理由
Changes in the inclusion criteria resulted in resubmission of the IRB documents for jRCT approval as specific clinical trial. Expected number of patients for recruitment was to be at least >10 in the year 2021. However several COVID related delays (patients as well as experimenters) resulted in fewer than expected patients to be recruited.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Delays in recruitment will be caught up in the upcoming months (May-June) to speed up the recruitment process. Testing and analysis of data will performed simultaneously. Data analysis will focus on integration of various imaging techniques to make an informed decision on the benefit of using TMS in PD patients with visual misperceptions. A system will be established in place for following-up cases with TMS within the department. Efficacy trial (RCT) is currently being planned. Dissemination of results - One more research article will be submitted by the end of November. Research results are planned to be presented in JSN-2022 and NEURO-2022.
