| 研究実績の概要 |
During the 2024 fiscal year, I presented research outcomes with my collaborator at an international conference. Although our manuscript was not accepted by a top-tier journal, we are revising it for resubmission. I also collaborated with Australian academics to explore culturally diverse employees’ hospitality careers, leading to a publication in the Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism. This collaboration has extended to a book project currently in progress. Looking ahead, I will continue data collection to examine hospitality employees’ perceptions of workplace dignity in regional Japan.

理由
During the 2024 fiscal year, I undertook my Sabbatical leave in Australia, which offered a valuable opportunity to advance my research and build international academic networks. While based in Melbourne, I collaborated with Australian scholars and investigated hospitality employees’ perceptions of their work. This experience provided fresh insights into workplace culture, challenges, and employee values within the hospitality sector. In addition to my original research plans, I broadened the scope of my study to include a cross-national perspective, drawing connections between workforce issues in Japan and Australia. These efforts resulted in one publication and the development of ongoing collaborative research projects.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
This year marks the final phase of the proposed project. Publication writing will continue, with additional data collection and analysis planned to generate further outcomes. Therefore, much expenses will be associated with publication related.
The project aims to uncover the lived experiences of hospitality work at the individual level, particularly how it impacts vulnerable employees such as interns and new starters. At its core, the project advocates for decent work conditions within the hospitality sector.
To support regional representation, the principal investigator will conduct several field visits across Japan to gather data from hospitality employees in non-urban locations.
