This study addressed the need to conduct rigorous attitude research through a model that links students’ English language exposure/user contact and ‘traditional’ ELT/Global Englishes Language Teaching (GELT) attitudes using validated scales and focus-group interviews. The results demonstrated that students’ exposure/contact positively impacts their preferences for GELT. This study further revealed that this relationship is mediated by students’ ‘traditional’ ELT preferences, revealing another layer of complexity to GE-related innovations. Regarding the dissemination of the findings, two papers were prepared and presented at international conferences. Additionally, a book chapter has been written (Funada & Xie, forthcoming), and an article has been submitted to an international journal(under review).
