研究概要

脊椎動物の胚発生の初期で、基本的なボディプランを定めるのが原腸胚オーガナイザーである。この重要な組織において中心的役割を担う転写因子の役割と、進化的な成り立ちを調べることを目的とし、ツメガエルの原腸胚を用いた免疫沈降‐シーケンス（ChIP-seq）解析を行った。その結果、転写因子のOtx2、Lim1/Lhx1、Gsc、Siaは、特定の配列をもつ遺伝子制御領域のDNA上で組み合わさって、数多くの遺伝子を正または負に制御することが示唆された。また脊椎動物の祖先型であるナメクジウオの遺伝子制御領域との比較より、制御領域の機能的進化による脊椎動物の頭部形成の進化の一端が示唆された。
