深海性フジツボにおける矮雄の適応的意義

研究概要

深海性フジツボ類において,矮雄の適応的意義について調べた。まず,ミョウガガイにおいて遺伝マーカーを開発して矮雄の繁殖成功度を測定したところ,小さな個体ほど高い繁殖成功を収めていたことが判明した。同種の雌や雌雄同体の生活史についても,飼育実験や現場での測定により,一定の情報が得られた。さらに,数理モデルや現時点までの文献レビューと理論的統合をおこない,低密度下で矮雄が進化したことを明らかにした。
