| 研究実績の概要 |
To take actions to minimize potential negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, investigating trends and drivers of population change in cities is essential. The project aims to find out if the pandemic triggered/accelerated trends of population loss in big cities? We have collected panel data and are now examining if the pandemic has triggered population loss in selected cities. We have also conducted a survey to understand appropriate planning measures that need to be taken to renew interest in urban life and avoid unsustainable patterns of suburbanization. Some of the study findings have been published in quality peer-reviewed journals.

The project is progressing smoothly. We have collected all necessary data and are now conducting the necessary analysis.

The next step is to analyze the collected data, prepare the outputs, and submit them for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The first year was mainly allocated to data collection. We could not use the budget allocated for travel as the results were not yet ready for presentation. In 2023, the carried over budget will be used for international travel and hiring research assistant, We will also use part of the budget for open access publication.
