研究実績の概要 |
The properties of various algae in a surface water (Biwa Lake) was assessed using an automated fluorescence microscope. As a result, the concentrations of Pseudanabaena sp. were auto-counted and the accuracy of the analysis was acceptable. However, due to low frequency of the odor-producing algae occurrence, the chances of the auto-counting technique validation did not happen frequently. It was found that the frequency of odor-causing algae occurrence plays an important role in the method validation. In addition to Pseudanabaena sp., the criteria for automatically counting other algae causing problems for the drinking water treatment plant has also been established. Further, lenses to capture clear image for improving the accuracy of the auto-counting method were assessed and the best lens has been identified and incorporated in the system.

理由
The criteria (dimensions, shape, fluorescence intensity) for automatically identifying odor-producing algae other than Pseudanabaena sp. has been assessed and determined. To capture clear image for accurately counting the target algae, a new lens has been selected and incorporated into the auto-counting system.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
To judge the practicality of the developed online monitoring system, it is necessary to establish the accuracy of the automatically counted concentrations and the system stability for long-term operation. Therefore, on-site monitoring test will be conducted for the period of potential odor occurrence.
