研究実績の概要 |
Offshore hybrid wind-wave energy systems provide an efficient way of harnessing ocean renewable energy. In the present work, an eigenfunction expansion approach is developed to model wave interactions with a typical such system, in which an oscillating water column (OWC) device is attached at a monopile foundation of an offshore wind turbine. Numerical results show that installing a ring-shaped perforated plate to the shell of the OWC chamber can effectively mitigate the system's horizontal wave force and bending moment. The reduction of wave loads is particularly significant with a low plate's porosity.

The project has progressed smoothly, culminating in the development of the eigenfunction expansion approach for the hybrid ocean renewable energy system. Notably, significant physical findings have been published in the prestigious journal Physics of Fluids.

Further issues relating to the hydrodynamics of floating wind turbines or wave energy converters will be studied in the next year.
