The microstructure evolution of a cold-rolled 1at%C-doped CoCrFeNi during annealing was studied by in-situ neutron diffraction. In as-rolled sample, a strong <111>//ND fiber was evident for high deformability. Annealing at 700°C-1000°C leads to recrystallization and carbide precipitation. The particles retard growth of recrystallized grain limited to ~5 micron even after annealing at 1000°C. Heterogeneous grain sizes and fine chain-like particles are apparently observed after annealing at 700°C-900°C. Annealing at 1000°C leads to more uniform grain sizes and shorter particle chains, causing lower strength. The ductility of two different microstructures annealed at 900°C and 1000°C for 60 min are similar, >40% in elongation. Mechanical properties can be improved by microstructure control.
