| 研究実績の概要 |
Necessary ethical approvals and Material Transfer Agreement have been obtained to conduct the study. A Nigeria PhD student, studying under the principal investigator at Nagasaki University visited Nigeria CDC to conduct the DNA extraction from 251 Hepatitis B positive samples and transported to Nagasaki University. The epidemiological information database of the viral hepatitis positive subjects has been obtained from Nigeria CDC.

理由
The necessary ethical approvals and MTA have been completed. The epidemiological data of the viral hepatitis survey and the first batch of HBV positive samples have been obtained. The data analysis and sample testing processes are progressing well as planed.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
2023 plan: The Japan research team plans to visit Nigeria CDC this year to discuss the ongoing data analysis and sample testing plan with the Nigeria CDC counterparts. Nucleic acid extraction of Hepatitis B Virus and Hepatitis C Virus samples will will be done. The samples will be transported to Nagasaki University for genotyping, drug resistant variant testing and whole genome sequencing analyses.
2024 plan: Further sample testing and data analysis will be done next year. The result of the study will be presented at domestic and international conference.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
This year's budget will include travel cost (1,500,000yen) for three researchers from Japan to visit Nigeria for 2 to 4 weeks. A personnel cost (1,000,000yen) for the sample processing and nucleic acid extract in Nigeria is also included. The remaining main portion of this year's budget will be used for sample testing reagents (PCR, next generation sequencing) and consumable cost in Japan.
