研究概要

研究代表者はすばる望遠鏡用の高コントラストカメラ「SCExAO(スケックスエーオー)」の開発をしている。本研究により、2つの新たな高感度波面センサー、"可視光を主に動作するピラミッド型波面センサー"と"近赤外線で動作する低次波面センサー"を開発に成功した。両センサーは、リアルタイムで、高感度かつ低ノイズでの測定を可能にし、大気の擾乱を補正する可変形鏡と共に使用し、SCExAOに載せて初めて立証できた新技術である。近傍の太陽系外惑星や原始惑星系円盤を直接撮像することを目的とし、SCExAOシステムに搭載後、テスト観測での実証を得ており、2014年から科学運用が開始される予定となっている。
