研究概要

日本周辺および東南アジア各地から採集したアジ科魚類のミトコンドリアDNAを解析し，従来ヨロイアジ属Carangoidesとされていたものは分子系統的に大きく異なる多系統および側系統集団であることを明らかにした．本属のタイプ種であるC. praeustusは他のアジ亜科全体を姉妹群とする極めて孤立した種であった．従来のヨロイアジ属の多くの種と近縁属をヨロイアジ属群とし，DNA解析と形態解析からインド洋－太平洋のヨロイアジ属群を9属に分類した．
