研究概要

2008年にヒトポリオーマウイルスとしては初の腫瘍ウイルスであるメルケル細胞ポリオーマウイルス(MCPyV)が報告された。欧米ではMCPyVと慢性リンパ性白血病(CLL)との病因的関与について報告がなされているが、我が国でのMCPyVとCLLの関係については明らかにされていなかった。本研究において一部の本邦発症CLLでMCPyVが検出されたが、CLL発症に直接的な役割を果たしているかは不明である。MCPyVは単球にも持続感染することが報告されている。この持続感染が細胞の腫瘍化へと発展させるのかどうかは不明であった。そこで、単球性白血病におけるMCPyVの感染有無について解析した。
