研究概要

孤立気相中に生成した分子クラスターを極低温から加熱し，この系に気相赤外分光法を適用することによって，分子クラスター内における水和構造ゆらぎに関する知見を得た．また，生体関連分子がもつフレキシブルな側鎖の折れ畳み構造と側鎖に結合した水分子が形成する水和構造が，お互いに相関をもちながら変化する様子を捉えることに成功した．今回観測された現象は，系のもつエネルギーではなく，エントロピー効果によって駆動されていることが明らかとなった．
